The frequent sighting of bottlenose dolphins playing in the warm Indian Ocean’s waves gives the area its magical name "The Dolphin Coast"

Lynberrys is situated in Shakas Rock, a small coastal village on the Dolphin Coast in Kwazulu Natal; a quick 40 minute drive on the N2 from Durban International Airport will have you safely nestled in our relaxing and homely bed and breakfast.

Once you are settled in, you can take a walk along the beach which is a mere 300m from your room or take an extended trip to Lake St Lucia which is a world heritage site or see the big five at the Hluhluwe Umfolozi Game Park, which is only two hours away.

The warm South African weather ensures that all our rooms are air conditioned. Special care has been taken to ensure you are comfortable and all your needs are catered for, each room feature en-suite bathrooms and have LCD TVs.

Breakfast is served between 7-9 in our exquisite and inviting dining room, a feast of continental and full english breakfast are always served. Special diets can be arranged. The Dolphin coast has notoriously beautiful beaches, just 350m to Shakas Rock beach with lovely rock pools. Close to Thompsons with the famous hole in the wall. A Short drive to Salt Rock

 

Durban Waterfront  is approx 35minutes drive on the M4 tours are conducted around the docks and there are many eating establishments around the waterfront.

 

There are various dive spots along the coast and a local operator can be contacted for expeditions. Deep sea fishing can be arranged Umhlanga or learn to surf at a local surf school. Kayaking or canoeing is available out at sea or on the local rivers.

 

A fully equipped hospital is available in Ballito. Numerous excellent doctors consult in the area. Taxis are available for airport transfers shopping or to the numerous tourist destinations.

 

Many first class golf courses are on the north coast. Princes Grant Zimbali and Umhlali are to name a few. There are numerous gyms in the area. Walking running and horse riding are all represented in the area.

 

KZN is a shopper’s haven with numerous crafts markets and shopping malls. The Lifestyle centre in Ballito has numerous specialty shops and the staffs in the complex are friendly and always eager to assist any tourist with their purchases. Gateway is a mere 15 minutes by car and is a feast for any shopper.

 

Bird parks, aquariums, crocodile farms all close for the wildlife enthusiast. Hluhluwe Umfolozi game reserve is approx 260kms on good tar roads. The reserve boasts the big five. Reservations are through the KZN parks board. The world heritage site of St Lucia is 250kms away and you will definitely view hippos and crocodiles in their natural environment.

 

Durban has many excellent theatres. The Barnyard at Gateway is an excellent venue.
Local crafters are well represented in the area many sell their goods on the beachfront. Ikon Africa in Ballito is well worth a visit.

 

Durban International airport is 45 minutes drive on the N2 highway. Car hire is available at the airport as well as an excellent tourist information booth.

 

Whether you prefer eating in or out, there are numerous good restaurants are available in the area. No taste has been excluded from a simple takeaway to a gastronomical delight. There is something for everyone.

 

Sibaya casino is approximately 20minutes drive on the N2. The Suncoast Casino is approximately a 40 minute drive on the M4. Both casinos are fully licensed with various types of entertainment available.

 

There are various expeditions to view Dolphins, Whales and other marine mammals in their natural environment. Swimming with Dolphins is not legally permitted in South Africa.
